Well my internet connect is totally messed up but I still don’t want to leave my computer so get ready for a bunch of random entries that I typed on Word and then posted in the five minutes that my connection decided it was going to work.  So butchered Japanese names and all that… hehe on the plus side the English should be pretty good.  This entry will be for shows airing in Japan, I’ll make another post for shows I’m getting on DVD.  And it's a pretty long entry, longer then I thought it would be…

Shows I’m Watching

Blood+: This show is fantastic.  I wish more people were watching it or talking about it or something because it’s really great.  I’ll admit I watched most of it in a week but I felt that all the episodes were important even the episodes that might seem like fillers to me they were important because they fleshed out the characters.  If the whole series was just constantly action I wouldn’t care about the characters at all.  My favorite character is Kai, he seems useless but he really tries and he cares so much about his family it makes me sad that he’s so unpopular.  Everyone else likes Hagi, I don’t.  I think he’s boring and not nearly as cool as Diva’s chevaliers.  I can’t wait till this shows up on TV here and I hope more people will pay attention to it then.

Gintama:  I started watching this show for two reasons; the opening song is really good, I think it’s my favorite of the season and the Shinsengumi.  That’s it; I’ll watch anything with a cool opening and the Shinsengumi.  I think they made a mistake with the first episode having it be a hour long filler special, I guess people who read the manga would have got it but it wasn’t that good.  Since then it’s been better but it needs some more Shinsengumi and fansubs.

Mushishi: Alright this is the best show of the year.  Whoever isn’t watching it, it’s their loss.  It’s probably not for everyone but I love it.  Ginko is my favorite male character in an anime ever and he’s not even a bishounen (everyone else on the list is :P ).

Ouran High School Host Club:  Mushishi is the show of the year but this is probably my favorite show of the Spring season.  Its lots of fun to watch and the characters are fun too.  Also it’s by Bones and I’m a Bones whore so every time I see a show by Bones I automatically think it’s awesome, therefore I really shouldn’t be allowed to have an opinion on them at all because it’s tainted but whatever.  I like the manga too.  My favorite character is Tamaki because he’s an idiot and I love that type of character. :p

Saiunkoku Monogatari: I don’t know if I should call this underrated but it sure isn’t getting a lot of attention.  It’s a very good show but a tad bit confusing.  I think the bishounen are a little weird looking (sometimes I think they look like aliens).  The main character has a lot of personality, she’s clever and she’s fun so that’s a big plus.  It’s on a page of show that have a good chance of being licensed by Geneon (because of the rights holders and company connections and all that) and I hope it will be, I’d like to see it in English because maybe that way it’ll be a bit easier to follow.

XXXHolic: I watch this because I love the manga and the anime is better then the Tsubasa anime.  Some episodes are good and other episodes are not so good.  The animation is a little wonky and weird and honestly sometimes I feel it’s because Production I.G. doesn’t want to put the money and time in to making it a better show.  I’m just saying I think I.G. could do better…

Shows I’m Not Watching

I thought about writing this part but then I realized why should I?  Hehe there are plenty of shows out there I just don’t want to watch.  I have a really low tolerance for loli shows and moe shows (err are they the same thing?)  And also shows with lots of fanservice directed towards guys, obviously I don’t have a problem with those directed towards girls.

However I really feel the need to point out The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.  I actually did watch an episode, out of order but it’s not like it matters because the episodes are out of order.  I really didn’t like it, I found parts of it kind of funny but to me the most important things in a show to me are the characters and I think it really fails there.  Haruhi is mean, why would anyone want to watch a show about such a bitch?  Mikaru is a doormat; I guess I feel bad for her so I don’t want to watch her get tortured!  I thought I might like Kyon but I didn’t, he talks too much (well he narrates too much) and what he’s saying isn’t very interesting.  Itsuki is boring too.  And there’s the opening with the bouncing boobs, I just really don’t like that.  My favorite part is the ending, yeah I like the dancing and I like all the parodies made because of it.

I also want to say that I think Funimation is a complete shoe in for the US licensing company, people on AOD are saying ADV but I really have no idea where they’re getting that from.  Funimation just got FMP: Second Raid which was done by the same animation studio and the original novels were both published by Kadokawa Shouten.  From the way it went down it definitely seems like Kadokawa choose to give Funi the rights over ADV because they turned ADV down even though they had both of the other FMP series.  Why would they then turn around and give ADV the rights to Haruhi?  Unless a different company has the international rights, maybe they do can you tell I don’t know a lot about these things?

Yeah…don’t know what any of those are except Ouran High School Host Club (obviously) and XXXHolic…although I’ve never seen or read it…sweet. XP

Actually, FUNi and ADV jointly own the rights to FMP: The Second Raid. My understanding is that ADV will be handling pretty much everything but marketing and distribution (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/convention.php?id=346). It would be nice if FUNi has a hand in Haruhi, though, especially if ADV handles the actual work side of it, since that would open up a larger pool of voice actors.
