Eccentric Cookiez

I saw the 4^th Blood+ opening and I’m pretty disappointed with it.  I remember after seeing the third opening I started wondering what the forth on would be like.  It seemed like they were getting more and more artsy with each OP so I thought “Hmmm maybe scribbles?” haha.  But no they went the other way instead.  I don’t hate the animation, it’s nice enough but I still wish it was more like the second and third openings.  As for the song, I really don’t like it, it’s my least favorite of all the opening songs but it is growing on me in a weird way.

That’s really all I have to say about that but I do have more to say about Blood+.  When I started watching Blood+ I basically watched the first 30 or so episodes in two weeks.  So I really can’t comment on the pacing since I watched it that fast, even so I felt it moved at a perfectly fine pace.  People are always complaining about the amount of episodes where nothing happens.  I actually like these “pointless” episodes, I like learning about the different characters.  Without the character episodes, if everything was just action, action, action I wouldn’t give two craps about the characters and I probably would have stopped watching the show.  Really at the beginning of the show I didn’t think I would care too much for the characters, there was a lot going on and I couldn’t get a feel for them.  But by the time George died I was crying my eyes out for him.

At this point I really like a lot of the characters.  My favorite character is Kai.  Sure he has his own little harem now and that should be completely annoying to me but it’s not.  My favorite pairing for Blood is Kai/Saya (well David/Julia is cool too but that one actually has a chance of happening and therefore isn’t as fun ), mostly because I like Kai so much but also because I don’t like Hagi and I could care less if he dies.  I really wonder at this point what will happen to Kai, part of me would like to see him become Saya’s chevalier because lets face it she needs more if she wants to beat Diva (even though she’s down to two now?) and so he could be with Saya, protecting her all the time like Hagi (only better because Kai>Hagi).  The other part of me thinks that Kai becoming a chevalier would totally ruin his character; I mean he’s THE human.  In a way he is the audience’s insert character, right?  Normal high school boy who finds himself mixed up in this mess, so if he became not human then he’d be harder to connect with like Hagi and Saya.  Then again at this point he’s so in it that he really isn’t a normal person any more so, I don’t know.  The third, and most evil, part of me thinks it would have been awesome if Diva had given Kai some of her blood back when she wanted to after she killed Riku, the ship has sailed on  that one but it would have been cool darn it!

Right now I have no clue how the show can end.  The bad guys just seem to have so much more power then the good guys.  When it ends I hope it really ends, I would rather it not end openly with a chance for more.  I doubt I’ll get what I want though.

Know what else I want?  Some friggin Blood+ merchandise!  Seriously when I went to Anime Boston I couldn’t find a darned thing!  Maybe I’ll have better luck next year, I’d settle for the Saya/Hagi pencil board (which I know exists), a poster, anything at this point… well except for that Saya/Hagi figure (more like sculpture really) I saw… I might think of getting a Saya figure though if one comes out.  What do you think my chances of getting a Kai figure are?  :’(

On The Topic of Shows That Need More Subs and New OPs and EDs…

Both XXXHolic and Gintama got new endings.  The Gintama one is pretty cute and mostly I’m just mentioning it because I want to mention Gintama as much as possible because it needs more subs.  I’d like at least one episode a month… Oh well from what I hear the manga might be in the US Shonen Jump (someone said they heard that at AX I think?) so if that’s true I’m sure Viz will license it eventually and have it dubbed and out before the fansubbers finish the next episodes.  I don’t mean to sound like a greedy leecher but I am what I am.

The new XXXHolic ending is the cutest thing ever.  It almost makes me feel like picking up the show again.  Ahh Moro and Maru are so cute and I love the song even if it doesn’t fit at all.  Now I think I’ll go and watch it again
