For some reason (laziness maybe…) I’ve been having a really hard time writing an entry. It’s not for lack of things I want to write about, because wow there are lots of things I want to write about so many that when I sit down to get ready to write something I can’t even pick what I want to write about. Whatever, I’m going back to school on Tuesday (ahhh tomorrow!!) but that probably won’t effect how much I write here (which is almost never anyway). Manga Reviews and Newtype Romance August 28, 2006

I’ve been reading so much manga lately, I thought I might as well write about some of what I’m reading. Also for some reason I had a really hard time writing this entry, I didn’t bother checking spelling so I’m sorry it’s so terrible!!
New Series
Kekkaishi volumes 1-4- This is a series I had read a lot about on certain message boards so when there was a sale on Viz manga I decided to order the first two volumes. I liked it a whole lot! So much so that I decided to go out and get the next two volumes as soon as I could. I also forced my little brother to read it, he enjoyed it as well. I really liked Yoshimori, the wanting to build a castle of sweets thing is cute. I like Tokine too even though she seems like a bit of snob. The fourth volume was very good, I cried while I was reading the story about the pastery maker and his brother… yup if a manga can make me cry I know it’s good!

Doing reviews and stuff is boring, making lists is fun! So I decided to have some fun and make a bunch of lists of my favorite characters woo 
As fun as it was it was kind of hard too because my favorite characters change every day and I’m always forgetting some of them but I tried.

Between Comic Con and Anime Expo there’s been loads of new manga releases announced, I’m really excited about a lot of them so I decided to go through all the ones I’m at least a little bit interested in. It looks like my wallet will be crying for years to come

E’s by Satoru Yugia- I’ve heard a lot of really good things about this. I tried watching the anime but I didn’t like it too much but I’ll definitely try the manga out, the art does look really nice and sometimes that can be enough to get me to buy a whole series! (more…)

I’ve been reading a lot of new manga lately so here are some (hopefully) short “reviews”, they’re in a particular order to be revealed after All of these are the first volumes in the series.
Elemental Gelade (Mayumi Azuma)- I preordered this before I saw the anime, I was kind of worried about reading this after being disappointed with the anime. I really liked the art; it kind of reminded me of the art in DNAngel only not so cutesy. It was pretty different from the anime; events happened in different ways, there were two things in particular that were very, very different. There was also a bit more fanservice. Overall it was enjoyable, I wasn’t absolutely crazy about it but I’ll probably continue getting it.

Here I am with my sucky titles again…
The other day I read a post asking why girls liked yaoi so much. It was a female asking it and she just did not understand why. She thought it made more sense for girls to want to read manga with female main characters who they could connect with. The post and the comments got me thinking, not about why girls like yaoi (bah I’m tired of thinking about that, they just do who cares?) but about female and male main characters in shoujo and shounen. Do girls really get jealous of female main characters? Is that the reason why they would rather read about guys? Does gender really matter when it comes to connecting to a character? Heck does connecting to a character really matter?
Manga Shopping, Shojo Beat and Angel Diary 3 June 26, 2006

I went to Borders today and bought the July issue of Shojo Beat, Angel Diary 3, Bleach 13, Kaze Hikaru 2 and the Blood novel (maybe there’s more then one? I got the first one I saw). It was really crowded and there were a whole bunch of kids in the manga section. The lady at the cash register was the same person who was there the last time I bought a bunch of manga, which was only two weeks ago, it was kind of embarrassing. She said she was up to episode 62 of Bleach, I told her I stopped watching it when the fillers started (which was around then actually I think). She also mentioned that it was coming to Adult Swim but that it wouldn’t be the same because it was dubbed and I told her that I already knew and that I was really looking forward to it. Oh and when I was looking at the manga I saw that Viz is changing some of their spines. I noticed it on volume 8 of Fullmetal Alchemist, ack it’s like the biggest, ugliest V I’ve ever seen in my life. It made me want to buy that volume even less; they’ve changed the way FMA looks twice now.

After being lazy I’m back, this time I’ll do some real reviews, as real as I get heh I obviously suck at them…
This time I’ll begin with the bad! Last time I wrote about manga I began to review Crossroad 3, well actually I wrote more like a rant about it and Tenshi Ja Nai. I wanted to read the whole thing because I liked some characters and I wanted to be able to write about it properly. Well I tried reading it and I just couldn’t. All the characters started pissing me off; I don’t like any of them at all any more. Seriously I got so mad about it I actually threw the book down and then put the whole series in the draw where I put series I’m not buying any more. This is the first time I’ve ever felt so strongly about a series, I’ve never been so mad at a series!
So yeah Crossroad 3: Thumbs down!

I went on a crazy manga shopping spree today and this is what I’ve read so far. I havn’t been shopping in so long and there was so much to choose from! I was all ready to buy like 11 volumes of manga, but I realized that was just too much so in the end I ended up getting six, the four Go Comi series, Skip Beat 1 and Aishiteruze Baby 2. So yeah lots of shoujo, I had my eye on a few shounen series as well but I ended up passing them up for later. I’ll put my impressions under the cut… (more…)
